Circular Economy Technology Platform

Circular Economy Technology Platform

Mr. Károly Kovács, founder of Pureco Ltd was elected to the president of Circular Economy and Technology Platform's water management working group.  What is the new platform?

The current world economic model, based on one-off consumption, is known to be polluting and wasteful. For this reason, the European Commission is focusing on the implementation of a circular economy, encouraging Member States, including Hungary, to extend the life cycle of products rather than one-off consumption.

The Circular Economy Technology Platform was established in the first quarter of 2022 at the University of Pannon in Veszprém.

The main objective of the Forum is to accelerate Hungary's transition to a circular economy. The Platform is led by Dr. Zoltán Birkner, President of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office under the Ministry of Technology and Industry. The board includes representatives of large companies, chambers of commerce, local government and financial market organisations.

The Platform is an organised forum for cooperation without a legal form, based on the voluntary will of its founders and the voluntary professional work of its members. As a professional community, it develops its rules of procedure together with its future members and continuously shapes its activities according to the needs of its members, which are coordinated in working groups.

7 July at the first meeting of the Platform Bureau decided to set up 12 working groups. Of these, 5, including the one on circular water management, have priority, i.e. they are the ones most likely to deliver results in the short term.

We will continue to follow its professional findings and recommendations in our daily work. The working groups started their professional work in September.
